Camping at Davis Mountain State Park

We went camping this weekend with The Svatek’s.  We had a good time.  However… I do not highly recommend camping with babies (especially sick ones).  All in all, we had fun, but Gabriel hates to be put down, and unfortunately he got sick and hated it even more.  We hiked around the Ft. Davis remains and hiked up a “mountain”.  That was pretty cool, but I didn’t get any pictures.  We also went to the McDonald Observatory for a tour of the facility during the daytime and a Star Party at night.  That was pretty cool, but it didn’t even start till 9:30, so I’m sure you can imagine how much fun it was for the kids.  Noah got to look through the telescopes and his favorite thing to see was the moon.  He said it looked like a “big giant piece of cheese.”

Everytime we put Dalton and Gabriel together, Dalton would tackle Gabriel.  I’m certain that he was just trying to make him stop crying, but alas… it didn’t work.  Dalton is too cute.  He gets around so much, it’s amazing.  Hopefully Gabriel took some notes and will be following his lead (literally).

Poor babies.

Both of the babies had a lovely redneck bath at the campsite and enjoyed themselves.

Chris and Mike took Noah on a hike up the mountain behind our campsite.  If you look closely, you’ll see Noah’s hand in Chris’s on the left.

Noah really likes Shannon.  He spent a lot of time following her around and seeing if she needed any “help.”

Gabriel really likes his carrier.  He went to sleep almost every time he was in it.

Noah had Krazy Kolors ice cream from “The Caboose”.  I do not recommend this to others.  The boys enjoyed a game of football at the campsite one afternoon.  Unfortunately, the game was ill-fated.  Noah fell and scraped his knee (barely), and that was the end.

The playpens were very nice to have around for Dalton.  I would like to say that Gabriel got use from them too, but he did not cooperate with that plan.  Noah thought that our air mattress bed was pretty cool.  I think he even called it a “silly stage.”

Fiesta Fun

The Smith Family made their annual trek to San Marcos, and we went to Fiesta Texas, once again.  We had a blast, even though it was very hot.  The lines weren’t long on any of the rides which Six Flags may not like, but we really enjoyed it.  The whole crew went this year, Gabriel and Denise included.  Gabriel didn’t get to ride any of the rides, but he didn’t mind because his Aunt Denise kept him in the cool shops.  Noah got to ride quite a few of the rides.  Of course, he could ride everything in Wiggle Town, but there were a few in addition to that.  The log ride was fun and he rode it twice.  He also got to ride the Mine Train.  When we got on it, I was surprised because I had forgotten how much of an actual roller coaster it was.  I figured he would be crying halfway through, but he loved it and even ended up riding it twice.  We enjoyed a Colbie Callait concert and fire works at the end of the day.

When I Grow Up

This and That

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve put anything new on here.  It seems like it’s been a busy summer.  Here’s some of what we’ve done.

Gabriel went swimming for the first time.  He seemed to like it.  When we put him in the floaty, he kicked himself around like a duck. He’s also finally starting to try to get mobile.  He hasn’t really succeeded in getting anywhere yet, but he’s starting to roll over and show interest in moving around.  We’ll see…

We went to play putt-putt on Memorial Day.  Noah thought that was lots of fun.
